THIS BOAT OF LIFE
WELCOME to LifeBoat, where we can encourage and support each other on our journey. Some days the waves are calm, so that our focus seems straightforward and sure. Other days, often very suddenly and without warning, a storm arises and the waves are fierce. How do we survive? Where do we turn? What do we grab onto for support? When do we drop anchor to wait it out? Why do we panic when we know that our Captain is at the helm?
A lifeboat is meant to provide support for as many as possible to find safety. The tides of life seem to ebb and flow with good waves, rough waves, storms, and calm waters. Having others in the boat helps to give balance, support, companionship, and encouragement. Sometimes, we must cast out farther into the sea of life together until we find a new place to land. That vision on the horizon is not a mirage but a new opportunity to explore or, better yet, to build upon. Let’s refuse to sink!
Let’s tie ourselves to the mast so that we won’t fall overboard! Let’s help each other to ride out the storms of life which hit too hard, too often. Let’s minister together on this journey so that others find hope and security in the lifeboat. Let’s share our experiences – victories or failures – so that others know without a doubt that they can survive and ride out their stormy waves. God is our refuge, Jesus is in this boat with us, and the Holy Spirit guides us through both rough waves and calm seas. There is always room in the boat, so don’t panic – just refuse to sink!
